Ashley Temmen likes doing barrels with Dawn. And Chuck Wilbers has a fancy for roping with Thunder.

Horses are part of their daily lives. But they were looking for more.

Drill team is a fairly new sport in Missouri. Temmen, 16, and Wilbers, 14, were invited to try it out with the Montgomery City Show-Me Thunder.

"It's like synchronized swimming without the water," Temmen joked.

Now, the two will offer the same experience locally for other young horse lovers.

The Mid-Missouri Bit and Bridle Drill Team will hold an organizational meeting at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Cole County Extension Center.
