Two in custody for JC robbery

A boyfriend and girlfriend were taken into custody after apparently robbing a Jefferson City business, Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 4:42 p.m., Jefferson City Police officers responded to the report of an armed robbery at Radio Shack, 1709 Missouri Blvd.

Upon arrival officers spoke with witnesses who stated that a white male, thin build, and early to mid-twenties, took an undetermined amount of cash and a PS3 from the business and then left the business area on foot. The suspect was wearing a black jacket, black zip up hoodie, khaki jeans, and muddy blue tennis shoes.

During the robbery, the suspect displayed a knife and threatened a white female customer with harm.

A Cole County Sheriff's deputy saw the suspect exit the woods in the 1600 block of Edmonds St. and enter a residence in the 1000 block of Buena Vista. Jefferson City Police officers and Cole County deputies approached the suspect at the residence and took him into custody.

A search warrant was obtained through the Cole County Prosecutors Office and the stolen merchandise was recovered inside of the residence.

During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the female citizen that was threatened in the store, was the suspect's girlfriend and was involved in the robbery.

The female suspect is a 26-year-old Jefferson City resident, and the male suspect is a 25-year-old Jefferson City resident. The both are being held in the Cole County Jail pending charges of 1st Degree Robbery and Armed Criminal Action.

Names of the suspects were not released pending the filing of formal charges.
