Your Opinion: Vote for betterment of our community

Dear Editor:

I strongly support the Transform Jefferson City campaign and will be voting in favor of the half-cent sales tax Feb. 7.

Transformation will invigorate our community, setting the foundation for new and exciting opportunities, as well as restoring neglected areas that can once again become integral to our city, such as the soon to be vacated St. Mary's site, Old Town, MSP and Lincoln University.

This city's economy and growth has become stagnant, to the point of decay. By acting now we can turn that around and make Jefferson City a vibrant and energized place to live and work, raise a family, establish a career or new business and visit for tourism.

If we don't act now, there will never be a like opportunity. Things will continue to decline to the point that that the only thing to be done, if anything, is to continually try to play catch-up, always a step behind actual progress. We have a unique opportunity to do something for our city that will make a direct, measurable, prompt and unbelievably positive impact on our community, as well as for future generations.

A vote for Transformation is a vote for the betterment of our home.
