Your Opinion: Keep city moving in positive direction

Dear Editor:

Wow! I have lived in Jefferson City over 50 years and this is my first letter to the editor. I am writing to express my support of the half-cent sales tax for the Transformation projects. These projects will keep Jefferson City moving in a positive direction.

As a life long resident of Jefferson City, I see the benefit in the many projects that the Transformation sales tax will fund. The past few years have shown that the Missouri State Penitentiary brings people and money to Jefferson City. But, if you walk through the old prison, you can see that this incredible attribute will continue to decay and eventually become unsafe for tours and other events, if we don’t take care of it now. That requires money and that’s what the Transformation sales tax will be used for.

This project, and others covered by the sales tax, will help keep and/or bring back our young people (my kids and yours) to Jefferson City and provide them a better opportunity to make a living here so they can raise their families (our grandchildren) right here in Jefferson City.

Visit the Transformation section to read additional articles about the Transform Jefferson City proposal.
