New Russellville track to open March 20

A ribbon cutting for the new track for Russellville schools is scheduled for March 20.

School officials said the ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m. and state champion track teams from the 1980s are expected to attend.

The first formal track meet will be held after the ceremonies at 4 p.m.

The first phase of the project is done and the second phase is almost done with the fence and track surface having been installed. This phase will be completed when the striping is completed. The third phase of the project will be putting in lights. The final phase is putting in the concession/restroom/storage building and bleachers.

In November 2009, Russellville district patrons approved a bond issue to make improvements to their K-8 building and construct the track at the high school.
