The fact Jefferson City still had a chance was stunning.
After trailing by 20 points at halftime, the Jays rallied to cut the lead to 4 with 2:46 to play. That’s when Jefferson City ran out of gas.
The comeback attempt fell short as St. Francis DeSales (Ohio) topped Jefferson City 68-59 in a first-round matchup in the Joe Machens Great 8 Classic on Thursday night at Fleming Fieldhouse.
“That was one of the uglier first halves that we have put together this year,” Jefferson City coach Blair Thompson said. “We dug ourselves a hole as a result, one that we couldn’t overcome."
