Barnes files veterans court, tanning bills

Jay Barnes, R-Jefferson City, filed two proposed new bills Wednesday for lawmakers to consider in the 2013 legislative session that begins Jan. 9.

One bill would create veterans courts to aid Missouri combat veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress, and the other would prohibit any person younger than 6 years old from using a tanning device, even with the consent of a parent or guardian.

This is the second year Barnes has sponsored a veterans courts bill. Last year's version passed in the House, 149-1, but failed to make it past the Senate.
