Lincoln men can't maintain quick start in loss to UMSL

The Lincoln men's basketball team came rolling out of the gate. The Blue Tigers then stumbled the rest of the way.

After storming out to a 9-2 lead 3:28 into the game and leading 11-3 shortly thereafter, Lincoln fell apart.

Missouri-St. Louis had the superior play after the first five minutes and defeated Lincoln 81-65 in a non-conference contest Monday night at Jason Gym.

"We stopped doing what we were supposed to, and that's how (UMSL) got the lead," Lincoln coach John Redmond said. "It just comes down to that. I would say that's probably been the problem all year. We stop doing what's the game plan and we go into individual game plans instead of team game plans."

It was a hot start for Lincoln, with solid shooting, strong defense and a powerful dunk from Charles Cole.
