Your Opinion: Don't expand Medicaid

Dear Editor:

Gov. Jay Nixon says Missouri citizens are stupid if we don't take the federal money to expand Medicaid.

First off, adding 300,000 people to Medicaid in Missouri is a huge multi- million dollar expansion of an entitlement.

Second, federal money is money confiscated from working Americans, and with the addition of being 50 percent borrowed, adds significantly to the national debt. Don't let them fool you into believing this won't end up costing us millions more either. Rarely are government projections realistic, especially on entitlements.

Expanding our budget to add 300,000 more people to government operated health care, who are not classified as in poverty, can only benefit one entity. That is why the Missouri Hospital Association is joining Gov. Nixon to urge lawmakers to set up the Health Insurance Exchange and join Obamacare. They see huge profits coming off the backs of working Missourians.

I'm frankly tired of being a tax slave instead of a citizen. So are 73 percent of Missourians who rejected Obamacare via Prop. C back in 2010.

No thanks Jay. I think cutting federal spending means Missouri should do its part and reject deficit spending on expanding entitlement programs. I urge everyone to call Gov. Nixon and tell him we still mean no on Obamacare in any way, shape, or form.
