Opinion: Romney-Ryan ticket
Monday, August 20, 2012
The Morning Journal, Lorain, Ohio, on the Romney-Ryan ticket, from Aug. 12, 2012:
School opened (Aug. 11) for American voters who are confused by the partisan cacophony of this presidential campaign.
The new teacher, Paul Ryan, is the perfect choice as Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's VP running mate.
Ryan has the gift of being able to explain formidable economic issues and make them clearly understandable.
Ryan is articulate and sufficiently aggressive to blow away the smoke and shatter the mirrors that the White House spews and manipulates to create the illusion of governing in the people's interest....
To date, Romney hasn't been able to cut to the heart of the matter like Ryan can. Romney has stayed too far above the fray when close-in, hard political punches need to be thrown at the Obama White House Lie Machine....
In short, Ryan and Romney must make it clear and simple: Obama and his enablers are steadily destroying America, its economy, its future and the freedom that our founders and fathers entrusted to us.
That destruction must be stopped and the repair begun with the Nov. 6 election.

Representative Ryan is the main cause why America’s credit rating was down graded last year. Ryan is the main cause that the budget deal reach last year between President Obama & Representative Boehner was rejected in the House of Representatives which was the main cause of Moody’s down grading America’s credit rating. Ryan objected to the plan because it included eliminating the Bush tax cuts for the rich. Ryan is one of the leaders of the tea party in Congress who has used his leadership to derail the budget plan negotiated by Obama and Boehner and was the leader in the House if organizing the whole Republican Party to oppose any government help to fuel the economic growth that our country so badly needed. Ryan has been an obstructionist in Congress as he used his extortionist style of governing to get what he wanted in Congress. The Ryan budget plan now becomes the blue print for Romney economic plan which is to extend the Bush tax cuts for the rich as well as cut other taxes for the rich, unnecessarily increase the military budget, cut or gut as many regulations and environmental laws as possible, give the rich freedom to again to what they want to us consumers, threaten many of the rights we Americans have obtained over the years like the right to get an abortion and make life more difficult for the middle and lower class people of America. We can’t entrust our economy to Romney and Ryan with their voodoonomics style of governing. We can’t trust Romney & Ryan to solve our environmental problems. Romney and Ryan will only make our environmental problems worse. Our environment is going through some very bad changes for the worst. We need someone like President Obama in office who will do all he can to solve our environmental problems, our economic problems, our equality problems, our social problems & the world’s problems. Our country and our troops needs a president who can bring peace to the world not a warmonger like Romney who will get us into a war with Iran & who knows who else. President Obama’s policies is pulling America out of a serious Republican caused Recession that was on the verge of a Depression. President Obama’s policies has crippled Al Qaeda and killed numerous Al Qaeda leaders including Bin Laden. President Obama’s policies has saved America’s auto industry & America’s economy. President policies has averted a war with Iran, gotten rid of Gadaffi, gotten us out of Iraq, stabilized Afghanistan, Africa & guided the Middle East through one revolution after another without the use of American troops. President Obama has earned the respect of the Arab world and has kept the violence between the Israelis & Palestinians down. I’m sure the Republicans would be proud to make the same boast but Republicans are a bunch of lying deceiving con artists who always try to twist the truth to make people vote for them. Beware of Romney Ryan & the Republicans because they are no good for America. They have proven that over and over again.

You put a lot of thought in to that reb, but yet you have no clue! Romney Ryan will get this country back on track where it used to be instead of the direction Obama is taking us. Question is... Do you feel America is better today than it was 4 years ago?

Very well said. Fully agreed.

Idealogues from conservative think tanks and the teaclan are the only ones who think cutting spending is the only solution. Trickle down is still voodoo economics. Just ask Bush Sr.

What is Ryan going to do that Joe Biden hasn't already done?
tonto_goldberg 9 months ago
Biden hasn't done much of anything, good or bad. Ryan has already done significant damage to this country's ability to govern itself, and rebel999 has listed some of the most egregious of Ryan's obstructionist efforts. Ryan makes Foot-In-the-Mouth Biden look like a superhero by comparison.
spelchek 9 months ago
Just keep telling yourself that in November and hopefully it will help a smidgen. The current administration had zero obstruction during the first two years and owns today's economy. The "it's Bush's fault" didn't help in 2010 and won't again in 2012. Independents can see the only thing Democrats have to offer right now is a bunch of "what if's" in regards to policy. Democrats should be touting successes of the past few years, instead we get attacks on the other guy. Your faith in Biden as second in command compared to Ryan speaks volumes. Biden race baits, Ryan has a plan in writing to discuss and debate. You vote for the race baiter, I'll vote for fiscal responsibility along with many others that are tired of spending and 8.3% unemployment.

Spelck, Ryan wallers all over his self talking about his mother, and the Social Security promise 8 18 2012. Ryan was also was on Social Security after his Father passed away, and now he wants to dismember this program as well as Medicare, we shoul fire Him as well as the rest of the Norquist 90! Rob

Not true, but thanks for trying.

Paul Ryan on his Mother, " she planned her retirement based around this promise that the Goverment made her, because she PAID HER PAYROLL TAXES into this program. That she had this promise with, THAT IS A PROMISE WE HAVE TO KEEP." (08 18 2012) ST Louis Post Dispatch has an article in it today how to fix Social Security, (08 20 2012)but the party of NO cannot figure out nothin. Rob

Some would assert that his plan retains the status quo for those over 55. I s'pose that makes it ok to strip benefits from someone who has worked for them since they were 16....and they are now 54. 38 years of working and paying in just aren't quite enough....
There is no accounting for the lack of reasoning among those who support such foolishness.
spelchek 9 months ago
And the Obama plan is exactly what? Somebody send me a link to Obama's plan to keep Medicare and SS solvent. Why haven't the Democrats passed a single Obama budget? You have nothing but hate and fear instilled inside you via Obama's class warfare machine. When you can tout Obama's plan to fix things (he hasn't yet in 3 years) I'll listen. Until then, Ryan bashing isn't getting you anywhere. It is scary know that you support a President that brought you a weak economy, high unemployment, and massive debt. Obama makes W. look like a conservative. You're all sycophants with a capital "S".
BubbaD 9 months ago
I really don't care whether you listen or not. You obviously still aren't listening about the number of R filibusters in the Senate nor are you listening about the lack of a filibuster proof D majority. You also don't seem to understand the role of the House in regards to budget and spending. So at this point, there's no basis for a reasoned conversation until you can sort some things out.

As things are at this time, after paying in all the working life, one receives $13,000/year in SS upon retirement. Do the accounting and that is peanuts for all the hard work a person has done. It actually makes good sense to privatize SS. Yes, there are risks. Unless someone comes up with a better idea than privatization, this is the best thing we have AND with the privatization, the money received annually will be far greater. When I learned this, I decided this is the best way to go.

that will teach me - I trusted someone who provided these numbers during a conversation. Will there be an uproar?
tonto_goldberg 9 months ago
It's always better to go with original source data instead of blog-sourced data. Blog stuff is frequently fabricated on the spur of the moment. You could smack the person who lied to you if you wanted to start an uproar, but you'd get a sore arm from smacking everyone who lies to you.

Ryan Romney Aken - all chasing the Koch and Adelson dollar and completely out of touch with the working family. Obama - Biden 2012

Check your facts, Graceful. No liberals were involved in that article or that cover. You're giving us a blog reference about Niall Ferguson, who is a right-wing blogger that currently has a job at Newsweek. Perhaps he can keep it, or maybe he will have to go back to England and teach history again.

Name one job Barack Obama had in the private sector.

Pelosi-care signed by Obummer is the only thing out there cutting Medicare, by 760 Billion. As far as foreign policy in the Middle East there hasn't been any except for a non-Constitutional use of U.S. airpower in a foreign conflict. Something that would have brought the Libs who praise it today out in pink lines foaming at the mouth if a Republican President did it. That would be Progressive hypocrisy number 1012 BTW. Now that our non-action has placed the wolves in charge Israel will be fighting for their very existence shortly no doubt.
This current administration has racked up more debt than any one before it. Plus taken more vacations and played more golf than any before it as well. They couldn't even get a budget passed with their own party in power of both houses and yet just continued to spend regardless.
Part of me actually hopes the Dems take back Congress and Obummer wins re-election at least we might get this drive over the fiscal cliff out of the way sooner because the debt they have left our children with will be a nightmare to live through and gets worse everyday.

Settle down hank. I think you might have a man crush on Akin.

The promise needs to be kept for all, make them pay up to $200,000 for starters instead of cutting off at $110,000 That might be as start! I hope they get both houses too, for different reasons then maybe they could clean up this mess. Rob

The crossroads dropped Akin, maybe Claire can save some money! Rob

She has millions in the war chest all donated by poor people on food stamps and welfare checks. Cause we all know there's no way Democrats can be rich or have rich friends....NO WAY.

Man I got a bite, AMERICAN CROSSROADS HAS DESTROYED THE ability to have a fair election. I am tired of all the cr on my TV, how about you? It looks like TODD is staying in and the BIG MONEY is gone, maybe Claire will cut back, and I do not have to watch all the cr all day on 17, 8, and 13. Rob
BubbaD 9 months ago
Exactly. This will hobble Akin and make TV watching less aggravating. Win-Win.
