JC Council looks at zoning amendment

A proposed zoning amendment, which will be introduced to the City Council on Monday, looks to add a stipulation to the existing ordinance on storage of large vehicles and trailers in front of residences.

What about the constant storage of junk cars, trucks, and RV's at the shabby businesses on East McCarty Street? Is that allowed under the orfinance?

I've lived in towns that had ordinances against this very behavior over 10 years ago. In fact, if you had a boat it was mandatory that you had a dedicated structure, slab, on your property for storage. Older neighborhoods looked great because the city and citizens came to expect the tidiness; as result, enforcement was swift. They also had trash and recycling offered to all citizens from a dedicated tax (single stream and they picked up glass too). Que sera sera...
