A fast-moving thunderstorm swept through Jefferson City late Wednesday evening with heavy rain, hail and high winds.

Temperatures dropped nearly 15 degrees in a matter of minutes as winds gusted to almost 50 mph. More than half an inch of rain fell in some areas during the initial band of rain.

The police and sheriff’s department received several reports of downed limbs, broken windows, a garage door being blown in and overturned road signs.
