ST. LOUIS (AP) - The parents of a 5-year-old boy taken from a St. Louis hospital where he was on a transplant waiting list have been seeking a divorce.
A probable cause statement from the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's office said 33-year-old Jeffrey Stone was divorcing his wife, who's identified only as "T.S." in the statement. The statement also says a Texas court gave custody of the child to Stone's wife on Dec. 15, 2011.
The child, his father and grandmother were found safe at a motel near Chicago Wednesday, hours after his father allegedly took him without permission from a St. Louis hospital where he was being treated.
St. Louis prosecutors have charged Jeffrey Stone and his mother, Rhonda Marie Matthews, with kidnapping, interfering with custody and endangering the welfare of a child.
