Jefferson City catcher Sam Atkinson remembers vividly the first time he started working with the late Dave Schreimann.
Atkinson was in sixth grade and playing shortstop when Schreimann approached him about a position switch. Schreimann told him his arm angle and work ethic meant he would be a good catcher.
"He just pulled me aside and said, "We're going to make you a catcher,'" Atkinson said.
