After giving up 21 runs in the first two games of the Capital City Invitational, Helias was looking for a spark on the mound.
Senior Blake Monson was just the spark the Crusaders were looking for.
Monson tossed a four-hit shutout to lift the Crusaders to a 3-0 win against Jefferson City in the seventh-place game Saturday afternoon at Vivion Field in Jefferson City.
That came after a frustrating first game Saturday morning for Helias, as the Crusaders stranded 11 runners in an 11-5 loss to Blue Springs at the American Legion Sports Complex.
