City holds app contest

Jefferson City is looking to get into the field of mobile phone and tablet apps.

The city recently announced the launch of an app contest, looking for a “Jefferson City centric” app to be a free, available download on iTunes or the Android marketplace by Aug. 31.

City Administrator Nathan Nickolaus said he got the idea for the contest after seeing similar endeavors taken on by other municipalities.
