5K to join Holts Summit festival activities

Pre-register to participate by Friday

The sixth-annual Holts Summit Harvest Festival will kick off with a new event this year.

The North Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization is sponsoring the Harvest Stampede, a 5K run/walk, to begin the festivities on Oct. 8.

Rain or shine, the 5K will begin at 7:30 a.m. on the steps of Denise's Diner and Catering on Karen Drive.

Pre-register by Sept. 23 for $20 to get a $5 discount and a T-shirt. Registration on race day costs $25, and shirts will be available while they last.

Register at www.hscba.net under "Forms" or on the Jefferson City Public Schools website, www.jcps.k12.mo.us. All proceeds go toward purchasing school and classroom supplies for North Elementary School.

Stick around or join the remaining festivities from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Greenway Park. Craft and food vendors will sell their wares, while kid-friendly activities and train rides will keep the little ones entertained. Class of Rock, North Elementary and Callaway Hills Elementary will provide free entertainment throughout the day. Acoustic duo Rad and Rissa will take the main stage in the afternoon, playing top country, pop, and classic rock favorites.

The Callaway County Ambulance District will also be on hand from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the North Elementary School parking lot to ensure child safety seats meet current regulations and installation standards. Vendors interested in selling food or crafts may download a festival application at www.hscba.net under "Forms."
