ST. LOUIS - Scott Hovis of Jefferson City qualified for the 2011 U.S. Mid-Amateur by sharing medalist honors in qualifying Thursday at Norwood Hills Country Club.
Hovis shot an even-par 70 to share the top spot with Torrey Welsch of Belleville, Ill. Hovis, who tied for medalist honors in qualifying last year as well, had three birdies and three bogeys in his round.
