Mastroianni, Jays both take second at cross country

The Jefferson City Jays took second in the large school division Saturday morning in the Jim Marshall Cross Country Invitational at Cole County Park.

Led by Kent Mastroianni's second-place individual finish, the Jays totaled 64 points. West Plains, with five individuals in the top 10, won team honors with 25 points.

Cole Dodson was Jefferson City's next best finisher, taking 12th. Other Jays included: Caleb Ruth, 15th; Joe Burmeister, 19th; Lucas Theroff, 20th; Glenn Teubner, 21st; and Paul Kiekhaefer, 25th.

The Helias Crusaders finished ninth in the large schools division with 249 points.

Thomas Asmar paced the Crusaders, taking 39th.
