In a recent ceremony at the Jefferson City office of U.S. Rep. Vicky Hartzler, friends, family and veterans gathered to honor the service of California-area veteran Don Hentges.

Hentges was awarded the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Patriot Award in honor of his dedication and support to current and former members of the Armed Forces.

The CMP is a U.S. government-chartered organization created by Congress as part of the 1903 War Department Appropriations Act to encourage training and education on the responsible use of firearms among American citizens.
