Group's report touts ‘Obamacare’ benefits

The federal health care law will provide financial benefits for Missouri families after it’s fully implemented, a national lobbying group said Wednesday.

“Families USA,” a Washington, D.C.-based group, said its new “The Bottom Line” report shows, on average, Missouri households earning less than $100,000 a year will be about $2,070 better off under the federal “Affordable Care Act” than under the nation’s current health care insurance systems.

But Paul Sloca, spokesman for U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-St. Elizabeth, later said: “Blaine believes that Missourians and not the government should be in control of their health-care choices (and) is co-sponsoring the ‘Health Care Choice Act,’ legislation that would give people the ability to access a range of affordable health-care options by allowing the purchase of policies across state lines.”
