Cole County Commission dumps 2005 salary plan

Cole County commissioners approved a plan Wednesday they hope will help during the sometimes contentious issue of dealing with employee salaries.

They approved a motion that allows elected officeholders to abandon guidelines in a 2005 salary study used to determine employee compensation.

The new plan calls for the officeholders to get a sum of money, allocated by the commission, for salaries. Once departments get that, the officeholder would have complete control over how the money is paid to their employees.
