SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Erin Struemph threw her glove in the air and raced to hug first baseman Morgan Wilde. The rest of the team soon joined the celebration.

St. Elizabeth won the Class 1 state softball championship with a 5-2 victory over Jefferson on Saturday afternoon at the Killian Sports Complex.

"It feels really surreal," Struemph said. "I'm probably going to wake up tomorrow and think it was all a dream. We've been talking about this since we were in elementary school. It's just crazy it actually happened. I'm proud of my entire team. It feels awesome."

St. Elizabeth (23-5) won its fourth state softball championship in program history as Jefferson (27-4) lost in the championship game for the third year in a row.
