City looks to select conference center site
Tuesday, October 18, 2011
The Jefferson City Council will be asked to make a final decision on a site for the proposed conference center at a special meeting set for Monday.
Nathan Nickolaus, interim city administrator and city counselor, said the special council meeting will include a presentation on two possible sites, the Missouri State Penitentiary or a property on the 200 block of West McCarty Street. The positives and negatives of each site will be discussed.
He said the council then will be asked to choose a site so the city can begin putting its efforts into one selected site.
“It’s really just impossible to continue to pursue two at the same time,” Nickolaus said. “I’m hoping (the council) will make that decision.”
