Woman killed in motorcycle accident

A Syracuse woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident at 1 p.m. Monday on Route W, south of Marvin Cutoff Road, in Morgan County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol report, a 1997 Honda motorcycle, driven southbound by Katherine L. Chappell, 43, failed to negotiate a curve, skidded across the center line and overturned, ejecting Chappell. The vehicle then turned over several times, traveled off the right side of the road and struck two highway signs before coming to a stop.

Chappell was pronounced dead at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Jones.

She was wearing a safety device.
