$248,000 earned from Mo. property auction

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY'-ful) says more than $248,000 was collected from a state auction of unclaimed personal property.

More than 1,000 items were auctioned. The proceeds will be held they're claimed by the owners of the assets and items that were auctioned.

The auction was held earlier this week in Columbia. The treasurer's office says the largest bid was $3,100 for a bar of silver.

Items for the auction were collected from safe deposit boxes that were turned over to the state after five years of no contact with the owners.
