Science Center demotes 5 VPs

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Science Center has demoted five vice presidents in a move aimed at saving about $400,000 annually at the publicly funded museum.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/qHfUmT) reports that the center did not release new salary information for the officials who were demoted to other senior management positions. It is part of the Science Center's effort to cut more than $2 million in spending over the next 18 months.

In August, the Post-Dispatch reported that the center spent more last year on compensation for its president and vice presidents than any other tax-supported cultural institution in the St. Louis Zoo-Museum District.
