Welliver, ranked No. 6 in world, fighting tonight at Capitol Plaza

It took some time, but Chauncy Welliver is taking boxing seriously. And boxing is taking him seriously as well.

Welliver, the sixth-ranked heavyweight in the world by the WBO, will fight tonight in a card at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City.

“If people like boxing, they’re going to love my style,” Welliver said.

The Welliver-Brown bout is one of seven professional fights scheduled for tonight put together by local promoter Derrick Spicer.

Action begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be available all day today at the hotel.
