No. 1 Priory edges Helias

In Class 2 semifinal

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - The Priory Rebels came out on top of their Class 2 soccer semifinal with the Helias Crusaders on Friday afternoon, but the real winner was Mother Nature.

With a howling wind blowing affecting play throughout the contest, the Rebels got a goal in the first 81⁄2 minutes and made it stand up in a 1-0 win over the Crusaders at Blue Springs South High School.

The wind, which was had sustained speeds of 25 mph and gusts reaching 50 mph, made it hard for the team trying to go to the south to push forward. But that's just what the Rebels were able to do early on, as Andrew Rhodes broke free in front and gathered it up in front and easily put it home.

"We had a great effort, holding them to one," Helias coach Chuck Register said of a Priory team that has now outscored its opponents this year 105-5.
