City staff to study downtown parking
Thursday, November 17, 2011
At the request of one Jefferson City council member and one business owner, city staff is working to put together a report on parking issues, enforcement and revenue totals in the downtown area.
At the Transportation and Traffic Commission meeting Wednesday, Britt Smith, parking and streets director, said the commission had received a request from 4th Ward Councilwoman Carrie Carroll to discuss the removal of parking meters on the 300 block of Jefferson Street.
The removal idea was originally suggested at a city forum on a proposed downtown parking program by Carolyn McDowell, whose business is located on the 300 block of Jefferson Street.

Does anyone ever go uptown or to the mall? Forgot how to get there. Probably not even on a Garmin.

Get rid of all the parking meters. So Draconian and restrictive. No wonder no one wants to go uptown anymore. They are so unfriendly to people who go there or work there.
