SYDNEY (AP) — Tiger Woods bogeyed his first three holes Saturday and it didn’t get much better in the Australian Open. He wound up with a 3-over 75, going from a one-shot lead to six shots behind John Senden.
It was the third straight time that Woods had at least a share of the lead and failed to break par.
Senden, who won the Australian Open five years ago at Royal Sydney, birdied his last two holes to finish off a 9-under 63 that gave him a one-shot lead over Jason Day going into the final round.
It was a good day for scoring — except for Woods.
He made a 7-foot birdie putt on No. 4, then didn’t make another birdie until a two-putt from 50 feet up the slope on the par-5 14th.
LORENA OCHOA INVITATIONAL
GUADALAJARA, Mexico (AP) — Hall of Famer Juli Inkster shot a 3-under 69 on Friday for a share of the second-round lead with Anna Nordqvist in the Lorena Ochoa Invitational.
The 51-year-old Inkster is trying to become the oldest winner in LPGA Tour history. Beth Daniel was 46 when she won the 2003 Canadian Women’s Open.
Nordqvist had a 65 — the best score in the first two rounds in the 36-player event — to match Inkster at 8-under 136 at Guadalajara Country Club.
Catriona Matthew (68), Meena Lee (69) and Suzann Pettersen (70) were a stroke back, and defending champion I.K. Kim (67) was 5 under. Michelle Wie, the 2009 winner, was five strokes behind at 3 under after a 71. Se Ri Pak (71) and Paula Creamer (71) also were 3 under.
Top-ranked Yani Tseng was 18th at 1 over after a 69.
SINGAPORE (AP) — England’s James Morrison shot a 3-under 68 on Friday to take a one-stroke lead during the suspended second round of the Singapore Open.
Morrison had a 12-under 130 total. Italy’s Edoardo Molinari was 11 under with seven holes left when play was suspended because of darkness. Play was delayed for nearly three hours because of the threat of lightning from a rain storm. Sixty-nine players were unable to complete the round.
Phil Mickelson was 3 under with five holes left in the event sanctioned by the European and Asian tours.
