Danner’s Vets Day comments follow Skelton legacy
Saturday, November 12, 2011
Lincoln University’s ROTC cadets — and all the others who attended their annual Veterans Day breakfast Friday morning — observed a little bit of history being made.
For the first time since the breakfasts began 25 years ago, the keynote speaker was not veteran Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton, D-Lexington — who a year ago lost his re-election bid to Vicky Hartzler, R-Harrisonville.
“I think today was also honoring his legacy, and we’re going to try to continue the good things that he set in motion,” Missouri Adjutant General Steve Danner said Friday morning, after delivering this year’s keynote speech to the LU ROTC breakfast.
