St. Charles man accused of defrauding employer

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A St. Charles man is facing federal indictment for allegedly defrauding his employer of $342,000.

The U.S. Attorney's office in St. Louis said Thursday that 36-year-old Eric Engle worked at LabCorp Inc., a business that provides services for people having blood samples analyzed. Engle's duties included collecting money for services and paying expenses.

The indictment alleges that Engle created a fictitious cleaning service company with LabCorp as a client, and created fraudulent invoices for services never rendered.

Engle could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted of wire fraud. He did not yet have a listed attorney, and did not have a phone listing.
