Cross country championships bring opportunity

Resident: "This is the best year that the traffic's run in 10 years'

Athletes from across the state came to Jefferson City on Saturday for the state Cross Country Championships, flooding a residential area with added vehicles and traffic congestion.

In efforts to accommodate the added vehicles, city officials, in coordination with the Missouri State High School Activities Association, changed Ellis Boulevard to a one way street eastbound from Tanner Bridge Road to Rosewood Drive.

Steve Lochhead, a retired police officer who lives on the corner of Rosewood Drive and Winston Court, said the one-way change definitely helped the neighborhood traffic.
