Applebee's moving to KC from Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Applebee's International has announced plans to move its headquarters to Kansas City from nearby Lenexa, Kan.

The Kansas City Star reported that the move includes 350 employees at what's referred to as the Applebee's restaurant support center in Lenexa and 38 members of its centralized supply chain.

Applebee's is now owned by California-based DineEquities, which also owns IHOP, formerly International House of Pancakes

The company was lured by a more than $12.6 million state and city incentive package. About $10.9 million of the incentive package for Applebee's will come from the Missouri Quality Jobs program. A state job training program will kick in $1.6 million. And $150,000 will come from the Chapter 100 bond program, which will require Kansas City Council approval.
