Jays, Lady Jays hope for strong showing at State Track Meet
Friday, May 27, 2011
The state meet isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s about staring down the best of the best and hoping to make it to the medal stand.
The Jefferson City track and field teams will be looking to earn all-state honors when the Class 4 State Track and Field Championships begin at 11 a.m. today at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.
“We expect to compete,” Jefferson City coach Dan Ridgeway said. “When you have a meet that’s a state meet, it’s the best of the best.
“We’ve got 31 kids that are going and only three of them are seniors. So it’s a great experience for the future.
“But we want to go over there this year and score as high as we can.”
The Lady Jays will compete in seven events.
