KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The National World War I Museum in Kansas City is going on the road for a year.
A semi-trailer truck that expands into a smaller version of the museum will begin a one-year trip across the country shortly after Memorial Day.
Waddell & Reed Financial is sponsoring the traveling exhibit, which will visit at least 75 cities. The founders of the financial services company served in World War I and some of their artifacts will be part of the display.
The Kansas City Star reports Wednesday that the trip comes as Congress is considering legislation that would make the museum the home base for World War I War centennial observances in 2014-18.
