2 teens charged with stealing phone after dragging woman

Two Jefferson City teenagers have been charged in connection with a robbery, in which the female victim was dragged for a distance by a vehicle.

According to court documents, Zaquan Brewer, 17, of 1104 E. Atchison, and Latrail Grant, 17, of 211 Olive St., are each charged with one count of second-degree robbery.

As of Monday afternoon, Brewer and Grant were both being held in the Cole County Jail, each on $100,000 bond.

According to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement, Grant took the victim’s iPhone on Friday afternoon in the 700 block of East Miller Street.

She said Grant took her phone and wouldn’t give it back to her. She said she attempted to grab the phone back as a vehicle, driven by Brewer, drove away. The victim was hanging out the window of the vehicle and said she was scared for her life as she was being dragged down the street.

What's worse is that even JCPD are afraid to go into that area of E Miller. Heck they won't even go to control the crowds at the park across from the Animal Shelter on E Miller.

JCPD are not afraid to go anywhere in Jefferson City, except maybe a certain administrator's house . . . you be sure and tell a JCPO he's afraid . . .

Both men are 17 years old. One of them has been arrested 15 times and the other 6 times. How in the world are they still our walking on the streets?

Sadly that name attitude is held by so many people that the post is accurate in many hiring situations.

i am more concerned about the victim of the crime myself. i don't think names will foretell if you are a criminal or not. however thugs should be punished.

I agree. I would like to retract my last post and apologize to jcyalater. I realize their post reflects the ignorance of society in general, not that of jcyalater. Sorry. I got ahead of myself and failed to think critically before posting. A name doesn't make a person who they are, but parenting definitely does...

if names offend you never work in Silicon Valley. I worked with a guy for some time named tron. there was also a hex. And of course i can never remember all of the indian names there. But nothing beats my 3 years in china. I'm sure alot of them had horrible ethnic names as well but I would never know

The crimminal usually gets the blame and the punishment, but society in America, which is white dominated but hardly "white," does create many crimminals. Since the police are usually members of the dominant culture, and minorities are usually poorer than them, of course there are (R)ace issues in police work. When cops are well trained, good police work avoides race factors until they matter. But race profiling, race targeting, race attitude, and just pure bigotry and racism are all serious problems with police work. It's human nature and can be trained against, but cannot be denied. There's no better example than these dopes crimin their way to jail, the cops doing excellent work, and this thread turns to discussion of race; from the nearly illiterate rants of Amazzzing to almost universal praise of the police, to slams of a mostly good but poor neighborhood. Folks, America IS race. Whether religious, political, ethnic, blood, or art - we are all about difference and how to deal with it . . . or did you skip the constitution and history bits?
