KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A 78-year-old suburban Kansas City man has died after his bicycle crashed into a parked Missouri State Highway Patrol car.
The Kansas City Star identifies the victim as William Bickel of Independence, who was killed around 11:15 a.m. Friday along Missouri 210 near the border of Clay and Ray counties.
The patrol says a trooper had stopped a motorist for a traffic violation when Bickel’s bicycle ran into the back of the officer’s car.
Officials say Bickel was wearing a helmet but was pronounced dead at the scene.
