Opera traditionally is associated with culture and class rather than caprice and whimsy.

Merging diverse notions, however, is a theme for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the classical composer who created "The Magic Flute."

An upcoming performance of the opera by the CommUniversity Scene Stealers is also a fusion of dualities.

Just as Mozart blended folk tunes with high opera in a fantasy of good and evil, the production joins Lincoln University students with community members in an event designed to be both educational and entertaining.

At the reins of this production is Ruth Robertson, a Lincoln University vocal music professor. The performance, at its core, is an elaborate class project with enrolled students eligible for an hour of credit.
