Missouri Senate endorses new abortion restrictions
Thursday, March 31, 2011
State senators could vote this morning to send a late-term abortions bill to the Missouri House, after giving the measure its first-round approval Wednesday afternoon.
“Basically, if a baby is viable, there can be no abortion performed unless the mother’s life is endangered, or it creates some type of harmful, physical impact on a major bodily function,” Senate President Pro Tem Rob Mayer, R-Dexter, explained after winning colleagues’ approval.
