Ex-county assessor, husband sentenced for fraud

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A former county assessor from southwest Missouri and her husband will go to prison for separate but related fraud cases.

Former Christian County assessor Sandra Bryant-Littles, of Clever, was sentenced Tuesday to four months in federal prison and fined just over $2,000 for mail fraud. She admitted last November that she did not assess herself for personal property taxes she owed personally and at her Poco Cala Ranch in southwest Missouri.

Her fraud was discovered during an investigation of a reported cattle theft from her husband, 62-year-old Lonnie Utah Littles. He was sentenced Tuesday to 15 months in prison without parole after admitting that he defrauded Liberty Bank and Shelter Insurance Company by falsely claiming that cattle he had used as collateral for a loan had been stolen.
