Popular Jefferson City hot spots under scrutiny
Sunday, March 20, 2011
Two troubled hotspots that cater to young adults, including Lincoln University students, are facing renewed scrutiny after a fatal shooting last weekend.
Cortez Ray Bellamy, 24, was fatally shot in the head about 3:50 a.m. March 12 near the corner of Dunklin and Broadway streets. Police believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation that occurred at College Complex, 2425 Industrial Drive, and possibly another local nightspot.
Over the past few years, early morning parties at College Complex and 63 Sports Complex, just north of Jefferson City, have led to numerous crimes, including several shootings.
