Study: Jefferson City saw big growth in ethnic diversity
Saturday, March 12, 2011
Everyone has their own assumptions about what the community they live in looks like.
Jefferson City officials had the opportunity to see if the facts matched up with the assumptions Friday afternoon.
Officials with the Jefferson City School District, city government and county government met at the Jefferson City Police Department classroom to review the findings from demographer Preston Smith with Business Information Services, based out of Kansas City.

Article states that recent college graduates are moving back in with their parents. Not sure this is the retention of young professionals that civic leaders had in miind. Cheaper than loft apartments uptown.

No news here. The study just supports what everyone else knows is happening to this once-great city.
It is also not news that the county commissioner would think he knows more than a Harvard researcher.
Time to build more apartments over on Goat Hill to accomodate all this wonderful diversity...

JC Lifer--- you are correct. This use to be a great city. You could leave your doors unlocked and feel safe walking downtown. Now with with the influx we have seen, crime is on the rise and it is no longer a safe community.
