Mid-Missourians make a spiritual sacrifice for Lent

Repentance and forgiveness set the course for Lent today — Ash Wednesday, which reminds Christians that they are born of this earth and they will return to dust, said the Rev. Don Carter, pastor at First Christian Church.

Once one has repented and received forgiveness, it is a time for reflection and prayer, and to examine what he might add or subtract from his life for God, Carter said.
