Man accused of molesting child at hotel

CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) - A 42-year-old Pennsylvania man has been accused of molesting a girl at a St. Louis area hotel.

Clayton police say Daniel Hughes, from the Philadelphia area, returned to the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton on Sunday and couldn't get into what he thought was his room.

Clayton Police Chief Tom Byrne says Hughes told a front desk clerk his key didn't work, so the clerk gave him a key for the room number he provided. Hughes went to the room, forced his way in and entered a bed occupied by a 9-year-old girl. Byrne says the girl alerted her parents, who were staying in another bedroom.

Hughes is charged with child molestation and sodomy.
