Chamois, St. Elizabeth in Class 1 sectionals tonight

The Chamois Pirates and the St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets open play in the Class 1 state basketball tournament tonight in Sedalia.
Chamois will face Tina-Avalon at 6 p.m., while St. Elizabeth will meet Hale at 7:45 p.m. The games will be played at Smith-Cotton High School.
The Pirates (16-10), who were the No. 2 seed in the District 9 Tournament, are coming off a 68-64 win over top-seeded St. Elizabeth in the championship game Saturday night.
Tina-Avalon (25-2) defeated Glasgow 51-43 to win the District 10 crown. The Dragons trailed for much of the contest, falling behind 7-0 at the start and rallying from an eight-point deficit in the third quarter.
The Lady Hornets (10-13) were the No. 2 seed as well in District 9 and advanced with a 62-60 overtime win Saturday night over top-seeded Chamois.
