Police searched an area of eastern Jefferson City following a report that a male suspect robbed a fast food restaurant early Sunday morning.
Officers responded around 1:20 a.m. to a report that a strong armed robbery had occurred at McDonalds, 815 Eastland Drive. Initial reports indicated the robber displayed no weapon during the incident.
The suspect was described as a male with dark hair, wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt and light blue jeans. He was last seen fleeing on foot southbound from the restaurant.
There apparently were no injuries during the incident, according to initial reports.

Would it be too much trouble to put as much information as possible in a story when the police are asking for our assistance in apprehending a criminal? Are we being politically correct by not stating more information such as race? Does anyone have any idea how many "males with dark hair, wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt and light blue jeans, on foot" there are in Jefferson City? If race is unknown then let us know that, but if it is known it should be part of the desccription.

There were conflicting reports about the suspect's race. That's why I left it out. That information is what police had immediately following the call when this page was posted. Although that non-specific description can help as police search the area in the minutes following the event (or perhaps even hinder if initial info is wrong), any neighborhood effort to "be on the lookout" using it becomes less relevant as time passes. Hope that helps clarify. --Rick Brown, online editor, News Tribune

Thanks for clarifying Rick. That makes perfect sense and I will remember that in future. I appreciate your quick response!
