Dear Editor:
There is a porn store named Cirilla's owned by Missouri Gifts in Wrights Plaza on Missouri Boulevard where people of all ages drive by.
The store is not marked "adult store" so I would not want my kids or anyone I know wandering into a store like that for anything. I called to see who owned the building and RZW Group LLC (Randy Zeal Wright) owns it.
If Zeal Wright were alive he would be so embarrassed that his son has allowed this in his old building.
Christian, Cirilla's manager, said they owned 60 adult stores in the nation, so that doesn't mean this town has to have one of them. No one has even raised an eyebrow on this one and I am appalled that the city allowed this store to be opened here.
I called the police, City Hall and I spoke with an attorney, Drew Hilgert, about this. He said that under Chapter 3A they can be in operation in this town. They were inspected by the fire department before they opened and passed the city ordinances at that time
I called the mayor, and my city councilman and Greg White and most of them also said that they had no idea it was there. How could that happen?
You let us know when Santa Claus is coming to town, why not this?
If we had to vote on tattoo parlors, Dear Lord, why didn't we vote on this one. It is much worse than a tattoo.
Greg White said that Cirilla's couldn't be removed because they are grandfathered in now, but if God be for us who can be against us and David saw Goliath a a target too big to miss. He said they would be allowed to operate this store unless the owner puts them out or they can't pay the rent.
This is not right. We definitely need to change these existing laws and codes.
I don't want another business here and hope the churches and others in the community feel the same way.
It has broken up many marriages, torn hearts, and ruined lives. I personally have been away from this perverse lifestyle for almost 23 years now and the power it holds in your mind and don't want anyone to go through that mess.
The next City Council meeting is on July 5. Hope to see you there.
