What once transported cattle, mail and people from Cedar City to Fulton, is now a remnant of stone footings, clearings in the woods and cuts through the hills.

The Chicago and Alton Railroad was a sign of the times between the two cities from 1872 to 1933.

Growing up in Holts Summit in the 1950s, Charles Lahmeyer remembers finding the remnants of an old railroad trestle bridge, but wasn't much interested in them until years later.
